7. March 6: Deadline for commitment forms to be returned
8. March 17: IBMA/GSA Course Selection at Travis HS
What is an Academy?
The Fort Bend ISD High School Academies are designed to offer specialized programs for academic achievement in a variety of career clusters. Academies are personalized, small learning communities that function within a larger high school with a mixture of career and academic classes offered to students. Students attending academies take more advacnced courses and may have the opportunity to earn college credit and/or industry certifications
Academy Applications for high school academies opens January 28 through February 5.
Students must complete and submit the online application by the designated deadline.
Students not currently attending an FBISD school must provide additional documentation to the district office. Details will be explained on the Online Application website.
To attend an FBISD academy, students must reside within FBISD.
The Global Studies Academy accepts applications from rising 9th graders only.
The Global Studies Academy's class of 2019 will begin thier studies at Travis High School

High School Academies
Selection Criteria
The academy application does not include an essay or teacher recommendations. Students are accepted based on the following criteria:

Completed application found on the Fort Bend ISD website.

Successful completion of all parts of the 7th grade STAAR exam.

7th and 8th grade semester grades in math, science, ELA and social studies.

Students applying to the Math & Science, Engineering, and Medical Science academies will take an entrance exam on Wednesday, February 11 at Dulles High School.

Students applying to the Digital Media, Global Studies, and International Business and Marketing academies will complete an interview/presentation on February 10 and 11.

Notification of the date and time of the interview and/or entrance exam will be sent to the email address provided on the application.

Final acceptance is contingent upon successful completion of all 8th grade courses and all parts of the 8th grade STAAR exam.
Students applying to an academy who reside in the Fort Bend ISD attendance zone but are not enrolled in FBISD, need to submit
- a copy of their report card from 7th grade and first semester of 8th grade
- a copy of standardized test scores
