SCHOLARSHIPS/CASH AWARDS
These scholarships are directly related to the curriculum content of the Global Studies Academy, its vision, and/or its mission. Many scholarships are intended for seniors going on to post secondary; however there are quite a few that are also available to underclassmen as cash prizes.

December 15, 2014
Applicants write a 100o words or fewer essay on a given prompt, explaining in detail the meaning and giving personal experiences. 1st prize $300, 2nd $200, 3rd $100

Open to High School students. Publish an essay relating to Persian culture, literature, and/or history in the school, local, or national newspaper. (Suggested topics on site.) Cash prize $500

Open to High School juniors and seniors, students submit an essay between 800-1,000 words on the designated topic. Prizes: 1st $10,000; 2nd $5,000; 3 runner ups $1,000; 4 random $500

To foster the understanding and appreciatio of Korean history and culture, KSCPP is hosting its 8th annual essay contest open to Middle and High School students. Prizes: 1st $500, 2nd $200, 3rd $100, honorable mentions $50.

Open to High School students to consider teh concept of political courage by writing an essay on a U.S. elected official who has chosen to do what is right rather than expedient. $10,000 prize

This annual event is open to High School students. Students submit a 3-5 minute short film that addresses global women's issues. Cash prizes and red carpet events available.

February 18, 2015
Open to High School students grades 9-12. Students create a poster interpreting the theme One Person Can Make a Difference. 1st prize $1000, 2nd prize $500, 3rd prize $250, honorable mentions $100

February 19, 2015
Open to High School students, students create a short video (up to 60 seconds) about human population growth that highlights designated global challenges. Prizes range from $250--$1,000 for each topic.

March 20, 2015
Open to 9th and 10th graders only, applicants write an essay pertaining to one of 3 topics from Ayn Rand's Anthem. Prizes range from $30--$2,000.

Deadline varies by region
Established in 1990, the YWPA honors young women of age 16-19 who demonstrate commitment to leadership in public policy, governement, and volunteer organizations. District award $1,000; International award $4,000

Open to High School seniors who demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, community, or work-related activities. Special consideration is given to achievements that empower society to mitigate risk through education and/or action in areas such as financial, environmental, health, and/or emergency preparedness. One winner per state: $10,000

Open to High School seniors, scholarships range from $1,000--$50,000 and are intended to help offset the cost of attending college. Recipients are selected based on their grade point average, work experience, extracurricular activities, and community service.

Open to High School seniors who have been accepted into an accredited institution of higher education. Submit an essay on "The Importance of International Health Insurance for Expatriates". Prize $1,000

Open to High School seniors who have been accepted to an undergraduate four-year institution and have at least one parent of Hispanic ancestry. Students submit a portfolio and are eligible for $1,00 scholarship.

Open to grades 9-12, the Gen and Kelly Tanabe scholarship is a merit based program that helps students fulfill their dreams of a higher education. Award is $1,000.

Ron Brown Scholar Program

Awards a four-year $40,000 ($10,000 each year) scholarship to the most talented African American high school seniors who demonstrate financial need an a keen interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship, and global citizenship.

Open to High School seniors who are planning careers of service to the United States in local, state, or federal government. Applicants submit a portfolio including an essay on why they are planning a career in government. Prizes range from $500--$5,000

B. Davis Scholarship

Open to seniors, students submit an essay of fewer than 1,000 words on the topic: Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most. Discuss why you believe that these traits are so important and how you feel that they are developed in an individual. Award is $1,000.

The Write Obsession Essay Scholarship

High School seniors submit an essay between 800--1,000 words on a selected topic. Award amount is subject to change based on available funds. Entries cannot be submitted until February 1, 2015.
