STUDIES ACADEMY

• Complete Level I through Level IV of any one global language offered in the Academy. Students must be in a language class freshman year and take the language consecutively at CHS until completion of level IV. (Spanish language students must enroll in Spanish III Pre-AP rather than Spanish III Advanced)
• Complete an Academy Global Topics Course and AP Human Geography at the designated time.
• Complete all required components of the Academy Capstone course.
• Complete designated Academy ELA and Social Studies courses all four years.
• Maintain minimum semester averages of an 75 in each of your academy designated courses and a 70 in all other courses. (Your year-end average must be high enough to award you credit for the course) (Falling below an 80 in levels I, II, or III of a foreign language will require participation in academic interventions as specifed by the Coordinator.)
As a student in the Fort Bend ISD Global Studies Academy, you must:
• Pass all sections of STAAR/EOC (or any successor testing program that may be implemented by the State of Texas) in grades 8-11. Students must actively participate in campus academic interventions if they do not meet the passing standard.
• Maintain satisfactory conduct in accordance with the FBISD Code of Student Conduct.
• Adhere to the 90% attendance rule and avoid excessive tardies and unexcused absences.
• Complete a minimum of 35 community service hours in a Global Studies Academy/YES approved program each academic year until a total of 140.
• Attend four pre-approved cultural events each academic year. Cultural events opportunities will be provided on campus. To view events visit the Clarificaiton form.
